BYD Yangwang U9 price hikes 16,200 USD after Xtreme Edition claims title as fastest production car

BYD has adjusted the price of its Yangwang U9 electric supercar, raising it by 120,000 yuan (approx. 16,200 USD) from 1.68 million yuan (approx. 235,300 USD) to 1.8 million yuan (approx. 
252,540 USD). 

Customers placing a deposit between October 1 and December 31, 2025, will receive a six-year or 150,000 km (93,200 miles) full-vehicle warranty, lifetime coverage for the three-electric system, and additional services, including upgrade and trade-in options and advanced driver-assistance features.

While BYD’s mainstream models join the price war, the Yangwang U9 is taking a different route. The price adjustment follows BYD’s recent unveiling of the track-focused Yangwang U9 Xtreme, which set a verified top speed of 496.22 km/h (308.4 mph) at Germany’s Automotive Testing Papenburg in September 2025, making it the fastest recorded production car globally. 

The U9 Xtreme also completed a Nürburgring Nordschleife lap in 6:59.157, surpassing previous production EV records. Production of the Xtreme variant will be limited to 30 units.

The standard U9 features a “Time-Space Door” design language with headlights inspired by outer space and a C-shaped light signature. Electric butterfly doors are fitted, and an optional fixed rear spoiler is available. 

Dimensions are 4,966 mm (195.4 in) long, 2,029 mm (79.8 in) wide, and 1,295 mm (51 in) high, or 1,338 mm (52.7 in) including optional elements, with a 2,900 mm (114.2 in) wheelbase. Front tyres measure 275/35 R21, while rear tyres are 325/30 R21.

Power comes from a four-motor system, with each motor rated at 240 kW, producing a combined output of 960 kW (approximately 1,306 hp) and peak torque of 1,680 N•m (1,239 lb-ft). The car accelerates from 0–100 km/h (0–62 mph) in 2.36 seconds, completes 0–400 m (0–0.25 mile) in 9.78 seconds, and reaches a top speed of 309 km/h (192 mph). 

It is equipped with an 80 kWh battery, offering a CLTC range of 450 km (280 miles). Fast charging restores 30%–80% in 10 minutes, while slow charging takes around 7 hours for the same range.
