BYD Seagull gets a facelift in China, regulator revealed

The BYD Seagull gets a facelift in China with important styling and tech improvements, the regulator revealed. The brand’s bestselling EV will get a redesigned front bumper, front parking radars, and a surround-view camera system. The BYD Seagull sells under the Dolphin Mini name in some countries.
The BYD Seagull entered the Chinese market in April 2023. It is a small four-door electric hatchback designed for urban mobility. It has four seats inside, a 74 hp electric motor, and up to 405 km range (CLTC conditions). The Seagull’s starting price is 69,800 yuan (9,520 USD). In 2024, the Seagull became the bestselling BYD battery electric vehicle in China with 453,593 deliveries (according to China EV DataTracker). Soon, the BYD Seagull will get a facelift in China to boost its sales.
BYD Seagull facelift
Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) revealed the exterior design of the updated BYD Seagull. It adopted a new front bumper with a gauntlet-shaped decorative element and a smaller trapeze-shaped air intake. Aside from this adjustment, the exterior styling of this hatchback remained the same.

At the same time, the updated BYD Seagull got new equipment. The most important highlight of this model is a surround-view camera system. The facelifted EV has cameras in the front bumper and side-view mirrors. The current variant of the car is offered with a rear-view camera only. Another important enhancement is the front parking radars.
