Britain's favourite spy baffled a group of evil henchmen with the high-tech trick, which relied on a bit of magic behind the camera.

In the 1997 film Tomorrow Never Dies, Pierce Brosnan as Bond drives a BMW 750iL using a hidden trackpad in his mobile phone.

The intrepid action hero used the device to help him evade a hail of bullets during a high-octane chase scene, which concluded with the motor being launched off the top of a multi-story car park.

The sequence has been hailed as "one of the most inventive in the 007 series" and relied on some ingenious Hollywood trickery.

Chris Courbould, the special effects supervisor for the film, got his team to kit out four Beemers for the scene.

They were driven by stuntman Steve Griffin, who crouched on the floor under the rear seats and used a specially modified steering column and a set of video monitors to control the car around the narrow lanes inside the car park.

As you might imagine, the car viewers actually saw drop off the building was totally wrecked, but Bond  enthusiasts can mimic the legendary MI6 man by snapping up an almost identical model.

One listing on Car & Classic offers a 750iL of the same year with a tick under 100,000 miles on the clock.

.Even with the wonderful Bond connection, the car is on sale for a real bargain, with an asking price of just £10,995.
