You might love stories of haunted houses but this is the story of a haunting on wheels – the Rolls-Royce of Ayesha Villa.
Parked at Ayesha Villa in Lonavala near Mumbai, India, the abandoned Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow is the source of a well-known urban legend.
There’s a pretty tragic tale surrounding the car that sits abandoned and supposedly haunted, nestled in the Sahyadri Mountains.
There have been several iterations of the story over the years but as local lore would have it, a family who lived in Ayesha Villa were brutally murdered.
Since the murders, residents of Pune and Maharashtra have reported hearing strange noises and seeing ghostly figures within the house and haunted car.
It’s also said that those who have lived in the villa after the murders also died under mysterious circumstances, and their spirit joined in with the paranormal activity.
Rumors of a mysterious young woman wandering the grounds at twilight have been claimed, and strange sounds coming from the abandoned house have been heard.
As for the car, which was once powered by a 6.75 liter V8 petrol engine, people kept throwing stones at it.
As a result, the windscreen and headlamps are broken.
Due to sitting stagnant in its current location, it’s also sustained water damage.
The car is so legendary that it was even featured in the 2004 Bollywood movie, Lakeer.
While these events have been rumored to date as far back as the British era in India, the fact that the Rolls Royce Silver Shadow model entered production from 1965 to 1980 debunks that.
Snap back to the present day and on a different continent and the 2025 Rolls-Royce Cullinan Series II has made its public debut at Villa d’Este in Italy.
Back to Ayesha Villa, a commenter under one of the many videos by Rev Crew, Talking Cars, and numerous other outlets about the haunted car has said the entire story is falsified.
They’ve probably got a point, too.
