DRIVERS are mourning after Jaguar, a high-end luxury carmaker, announced it would kill off most of its gas-powered vehicles this year.

Jaguar announced it would stop production of three gas cars in June as the company looks to make good on its all-electric promise.

Jaguar is shutting down production for the gas-powered F-Pace, E-Pace, and XF vehicles.

Production of the company's F-Type sports car and convertible ended earlier this year.

Jaguar has plans to become an EV-only producer by 2025.

The luxury carmaker currently has a five-vehicle lineup on sales floors.

The Jaguar I-Pace is the lone electric vehicle available for purchase.

The company said three more electric vehicles will reach dealerships by 2026.

A four-door GT will hit showrooms by the end of 2024, and deliveries are planned for early 2025.

While production of the three luxury vehicles will shut down, sales of the cars will continue, the brand's North American CEO, Joe Eberhardt, told Road & Track.

"The majority of our products cease production in June, but they will be on sale for a much longer time," Eberhardt said.

The initial reaction on social media shows EV-skeptical customers are unhappy about the electric shift.

"That is the worst decision they could make," one driver complained on X, the social media site formerly known as Twitter.

Another driver said they would stop purchasing from the luxury brand because they "liked [Jaguar's] older stuff better."

Jaguar's I-Pace had a historic run before growing long in the tooth.

The EV, once driven by the UK's Royal Family, is also set to end production by year's end.

New Jaguar EVs are expected to boast ranges closer to 400 miles.
