Billionaire car collector Yohan Poonawalla Buys Queen Elizabeth’s Range Rover

Yohan Poonawalla, an Indian billionaire and renowned car enthusiast, has added a unique piece to his already impressive collection.
Poonawalla who is known for his passion for rare and vintage automobiles, recently acquired the 2016 Range Rover SDV8 Autobiography LWB previously owned by the late Queen Elizabeth II.
Poonawalla was particularly drawn to the car’s unique features which includes its original royal registration number, OU16 XVH and other modifications made specifically for the Queen’s use.
These modifications include covert lighting, police emergency lighting, and additional grab handles installed for ease of entry and exit.
“Once a car leaves the royal household, the number plate changes,” Poonawalla explained.
“What is unique about this car is the fact that it still retains the same registration number That has turned out to be an added bonus.”
“I will retain all the modifications made to the car,” said Poonawalla.
The industrialist said that his decision was spontaneous upon learning about the car’s availability.
“I don’t take very long to decide on a car. I spoke to my wife and children and went ahead with it. Special cars like these do not come along very often,” he emphasized.
The Range Rover which has clocked around 18,000 miles, was initially listed for auction with a reserve price exceeding £224,850 (over Rs 2.25 crore).
However, Poonawalla opted for a private purchase, preferring not to disclose the final price.
He is known to buy a lot of historically important cars through such auctions.
