A 2018 Cadillac ATS-V Sedan once leased by President Joe Biden has gone up for auction.
The car was built as a “one-of-one specification” for Biden while he was out of office after serving as vice president under President Barack Obama.
Namely, the car features tinted windows and a Kona Brown interior that is not known to exist for any other factory-built ATS-V model.
In a statement, a Cadillac spokesperson confirmed Biden’s connection to the car, noting the original wheels had also been replaced.
While the US President is chauffeured in a Cadillac limousine – nicknamed 'The Beast', but codenamed 'Stagecoach' by the Secret Service – this Cadillac ATS-V was leased by Mr Biden following his stint as Vice President during the Obama Administration, and after President Donald Trump was sworn into the top job in 2017.
Specially ordered by the then-former Vice President, the Cadillac ATS-V is finished in Black Raven paint with a unique Kona Brown leather interior.
Introduced as a competitor to the BMW M3 and Mercedes-AMG C63 in 2016, the ATS-V has a 3.6-litre twin-turbo V6 sending 346kW and 603Nm to the rear wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission.
The US Secret Service does not permit Presidents and Vice Presidents to drive on public roads during their terms, or up to six months after they leave office.
While he's been an advocate of electric vehicles during his time in office, the 81-year-old President is known to be a car enthusiast.
President Biden owns a classic Chevrolet Corvette convertible, which was a wedding gift from his father – the owner of a Chevrolet dealership – in August 1967.
The 2018 Cadillac ATS-V is being auctioned on US website Cars & Bids.
