2024 is the fifth anniversary of World EV Day™, the biggest emobility campaign of the year.
World EV Day was founded by Ade Thomas, and his sustainability media company, Green.TV, in partnership with ABB, a global technology company.
The first World EV Day was celebrated on September 9, 2020, and it was created to raise awareness and promote the shift to electric vehicles worldwide.
In 2023, World EV Day™ achieved over 200 million Twitter / X impressions across 119 countries, with the likes of Ford, Nissan, Tata, Volvo Trucks, ABB, Parker Lord, Leaseplan, EY, FedEx and many more coming together to celebrate emobility.
However, this journey is more than just one day.
This year, we will again be asking businesses, policymakers and individuals across the world how they will #DriveChange to continue supporting the shift to a decarbonised society.
Here are some of the benefits of EVs:
-They produce zero emissions, which helps to improve air quality and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
-They are quiet, which can help to reduce noise pollution.
-They are energy-efficient, which can save money on fuel costs.
-They are becoming more affordable, making them more accessible to a wider range of people.
Here are some of the reasons why World EV Day is significant
It raises awareness about the benefits of EVs. Many people are not aware of the many benefits of EVs, such as their zero emissions, quiet operation, and energy efficiency. World EV Day helps to educate people about these benefits and to encourage them to consider switching to an EV.
-It promotes the adoption of EVs. World EV Day is a time for governments, businesses, and individuals to come together and take action to promote the adoption of EVs. This can be done through initiatives such as providing incentives for EV buyers, investing in charging infrastructure, and raising awareness about the benefits of EVs.
-It builds momentum for the EV movement. World EV Day helps to build momentum for the EV movement by bringing together people from all over the world who are committed to making the switch to EVs. This momentum is essential to driving the adoption of EVs and making a real difference in the fight against climate change and air pollution.
