Toyota Kluger Review

Toyota launched the Toyota Kluger V in 2000 as a new addition to their SUV line. With spacious cabin space, robust exterior design, and sporty style, the 5-seater car was the outer-oriented version of its urban counterpart Toyota Harrier. Toyota later introduced a 7-seater version, along with two other models – Kluger L and Kluger Hybrid.

Toyota Kluger Safety Review

The Kluger has airbag protection for all seven passengers, with the side-curtain airbags stretching all the way to the back of the car. Daytime running lights and automatic headlamps enhance visibility at dawn and dusk. The Kluger Grande steps it up a notch with its active safety features, such as lane departure warning, blind spot warning, and high-speed automatic emergency braking – which also warns you of an impending collision. These combine to significantly reduce the chance of a crash.

Toyota Kluger Comfort

The top-of-the range Grande is understandably the most comfortable Kluger in the lineup, with huge leather seats that are both heated and ventilated. Three-zone climate control will keep at least three passengers in their ideal temperature, and the all-independent suspension is nice and soft around town, and the cabin is nice quite.

Toyota Kluger Engine Specifications

There is only one engine available in the Kluger, a 3.5-litre petrol V6. It consumes about 10.4 litres/100km in the official test (urban and country combined). All Klugers have a six-speed automatic transmission.

Toyota Kluger Interior Design

The interior design of Kluger is both highly functional and luxuriously comfortable. High quality, soft-touch materials on door trims and the instrument panel create an agreeably tactile driving environment, while superb standards of finish ensure that the interior of Kluger is as pleasant on the eye as it is to the touch.

Toyota Kluger Exterior Design

The exterior of Kluger is designed to emphasise the car's sporty personality. Sleek, muscular lines, wide shoulders, a strong SUV face and a forward-leaning stance create a powerful sense of dynamism, sturdiness, strength and mass, with the whole thing set off by stylish, large alloy wheels.

Toyota Kluger Color Options

The available Toyota Kluger colour in Myanmar car market are black, pearl white, silver, white, gray, blue and pearl gold. Among them, the popular colour choice are black and pearl white. The rest are pretty rare as most dealers would rather deal with the popular colour.

Toyota Kluger Dimensions

Overall dimension of Toyota Kluger:

  • Length : 4,690 mm (184.6 in)
  • Width : 1,825 mm (71.9 in)
  • Height : 1,685 mm (66.3 in)
  • Wheelbase : 2,715 mm (106.9 in)
  • Weight : 1,640 kg (3,616 lb)

Toyota Kluger Weakness

The Kluger is not the most nimble of the big seven-seaters, but it is still a much nicer drive around town than a Prado. That V6 power does not come free either, as we found with a 13.1L/100km fuel figure after relaxed driving around town and on the highway, which is a fair way off its 10.6L/100km combined figure. The third row may have heaps of space, but it misses out on the fan control of many of its rivals. And while it does have a five star safety rating, there's no sign of the AEB that is starting to appear on newer competition.

What makes you choose the Toyota Kluger?

With so many things on its side, I am let down by the drive. It is capable and quiet and holds the road well, but the engine's delivery is laid back until you put the boot in. Yes, it performs well when encouraged but thrives on revs and that wrecks any potential for economy. Toyota claims 11 L/100km but suburban and highway cruising resulted in my 12.2 L/100km average. Generally, if you roll around the suburbs or cruise country roads, it's a good machine.

Toyota Kluger Prices
